IndraMind Cybersecurity and the University of Málaga announce the national awards for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in cyber intelligence

  • The call is aimed at undergraduate and master’s students from any Spanish university and will reward bachelor’s and master’s final projects related to cyber intelligence, as well as related fields such as disinformation, counterintelligence, and exposed credentials.
  • IndraMind Cybersecurity thus reinforces its commitment to promoting specialized cybersecurity talent in Spain, a critical challenge today: INCIBE estimates that the country needs around 100,000 professionals in this field, 30% more than two years ago.

Madrid, February 5, 2026. – IndraMind Cybersecurity, the cybersecurity unit of IndraMind (Indra Group), in collaboration with the University of Málaga (UMA) and its research group NICS Lab, has launched the National Awards for Bachelor’s Final Projects (TFG) and Master’s Final Projects (TFM) in Cyber Intelligence. This initiative is aimed at recognizing academic work and university talent in a strategic field for the development of the digital society and the protection of connected organizations.

The awards are part of the UMA – IndraMind Cybersecurity Cyber Intelligence Chair, launched in 2024 by the Indra Group company and UMA. Created to develop professionals in its areas of specialization and promote research applied to cyber intelligence and cybersecurity, the chair also organizes outreach activities and events for students of the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering, with the aim of contributing to their preparation and improving their access to a labor market with high demand for these profiles.

“In a context where cyber threats evolve at great speed, the adoption of advanced technologies and processes such as cyber intelligence is now essential to ensure organizational resilience. With initiatives like this, we also strengthen our commitment to digital sovereignty and to fostering national talent, promoting the training of future cybersecurity professionals, who are as strategic as the technology itself,” says Roberto Espina, Global Director of Cybersecurity at IndraMind.

The best TFGs and TFMs in Cyber Intelligence across Spain

From now on, students from any Spanish university who submit their TFG or TFM during the 2025/2026 academic year in degrees related to cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines may apply for the Awards. The projects must address topics related to cyber intelligence and, specifically, fall within one of the following categories:

  • Disinformation, including methods to detect, analyze, and mitigate disinformation campaigns.
  • Counterintelligence, focused on tools and techniques for analyzing counterintelligence activities.
  • Exposed credentials, aimed at early identification mechanisms and management of leaked or compromised credentials.

Experts from IndraMind Cybersecurity will be part of the jury and evaluation team for the submitted projects. After the submission deadline, July 31 at 14:00, the decision will be made in September and the names of the four winners will be published on the Chair’s website: one TFG winner, provided requirements are met, regardless of subcategory; and three TFM winners, one per subcategory. Each winner will receive a €1,000 prize.

Since its launch, in addition to its core activities, the UMA – IndraMind Cybersecurity Cyber Intelligence Chair has promoted various initiatives focused on outreach, training, and research. Over the past year, these have included two CyberCamp events with INCIBE, seminars for Computer Science and AI undergraduate and master’s students, and a masterclass at the UMA – Google Summer Bootcamp.

The cybersecurity talent gap in Spain continues to widen

In Spain, demand for cybersecurity experts has grown by more than 30% in two years, rising from 74,500 unfilled vacancies in 2023 to nearly 100,000 in 2025, according to INCIBE. Globally, 65% of organizations have unfilled cybersecurity positions and 55% believe their teams are understaffed, according to the State of Cyber 2025 report by ISACA.

In this context, IndraMind Cybersecurity promotes the development of national cybersecurity talent to address the current shortage of specialized professionals and support the path toward cyber resilience. It does so mainly through industry–academia collaboration (agreements with more than 50 universities and vocational training centers) and direct investment to train and recruit 500 professionals each year through an established model: Cyber-Capacities Talent Camp.
